You know, when you are off for a couple of days you think... Yes! Finally, I can get something accomplished... Not!
It all stared yesterday morning when I decided to call my Internet provider and make sure we had the fastest DSL connection they offer around here... I seemed to vaguely remember reading something from them about a faster connection now offered in my neck of the wilderness... So, I thought.... Hmmmm... Now I could certainly get into flying a wee bit faster through cyberspace... Just think of the time it would save! Brilliant idea... or so I thought...
Nope... we did not have the fastest connection... So, I of course asked the nice lady to please upgrade our service... Mistake... Within five minutes of our conversation, I had no Internet connection... So... computer savvy lady that I am, I tried everything I could think of before calling Tech Support, just in case it was a malfunction on my end... It was not, and Tech Support didn't seem so Technical savvy at all... My *problem* was given a ticket and shuffled on to an engineer in the field with the assurance that my Internet would be up and running later that day... Hmmmm... Sounds promising doesn't it?
Well, the day progressed and still no Internet... so I called back and was shuffled around a bit and finally told the *ticket* was *out there* and someone would fix my problem by the end of the day... Hmmm I was beginning to wonder, nonetheless, I spent the time stitching and piddling about the house... Finally, it's 8:00 in the evening and still no Internet... By this time, I was getting a wee bit nervous, to say the least... So, once again I braved the Tech Support line and this time I was told it would most likely be first thing in the morning before an engineer got to my *ticket*... Disappointed that there would be no blogging nor emails for me... I decided I would stitch for a while longer and have an early night...
Morning dawned bright and sunny and I eagerly grabbed a cup of coffee before rushing in to check on my computer... alas... still no Internet... By this time, I was really beginning to worry... So, yet again I braved the Tech Support line and the nice lady told me not to worry... the engineers would get to my *ticket* today for sure! I was not impressed! So, I cleaned up the house a wee bit and did some laundry... Still no Internet... Deciding to make the best of my time I got out my stitching and settled down to watch*Beowulf and Grendel* and stitch for a while... I enjoyed the film and I was so pleased with all the stitching I had accomplished in the last two days... So, in fairly good humour, I braved the Tech Support line yet again... This time I was told the *engineer* had closed my ticket as they had no access to homeowner... No access! But I was here all day... they did not knock upon my door... nor did they ring my house.... and furthermore I had been told the problem was on their end, so why should they need access to homeowner??? Now my *ticket* would have to be re-opened and it would most likely be tomorrow before they got to it, however the nice gentleman did advise he was expediting my order and adding several notes to it... Hmmmm I was not amused in the least... Nonetheless, I still had hope and settled down with my stitching, a hot cup of coffee, a cat or two and my new Beauty and the Beast Season One DVD's... I was sure a nice dose of a few of my favourite things would help get me through this most trying time... ;-)
That's when the frog decided to show his handsome green face... alas, most of my stitching from the last two days had to be frogged!!!! Oh, horrors! Fuming, I decided to call Tech Support again... after all it was all their fault the frog decided to hop onto my lily pad and I was not going to take this sitting down! I was nice, yet firm and before long I had a supervisor on the line and he in turn got in touch with a Senior Tech, who solved my Internet problem with the touch of a few keys... Humph! So much for engineers in the field! Needless to say... he was a Prince among computer techs... A genius in the world of software engineering... A beacon in the darkness of cyberspace.... I finally had my Internet service back... I could Blog... go blinkie hunting... read emails... browse stitching shoppes... Oh, Joy, Rapture... but wait... I'm forgetting something...
Alas... the frog... my mind would not rest until I got rid of him for good... So, I resisted the hypnotic call of cyberspace and settled back down with Beauty and the Beast, my stitching and that dratted green frog... I think I finally managed to send him packing back to his own lily pad and managed to re-stitch about half of what I had stitched in the past two days... Yet through it all I have done no blogging, read no emails, done no window stitching shoppe shopping... nor anything else of cyberspace interest...
However, I will prevail... tomorrow is another day and as long as that dratted green frog stays on his own lily pad, I'll be fine... As for Princes... hmmmmm that's another story and I'm not referring to the Computer Tech either... ;-)
I leave you with a scan of my frogged *New Snow by Glendon Place*... Hopefully, I'll have more to show for my stitching efforts next time... ;-)
Thank you all for stopping by... Your kind and thoughtful words brighten my days and help chase away the froggy blues... :-)
Until next time... Love in stitches...
I am thankful for precious moments and my own handsome prince...
I am glad they sorted out your problem , it's no shock as to the stupidity of some enginers, I waited in 2 days for 1 last year firstly they said I wasn't in I was!!! secondly they couldn't find my house I was like hellooooo they said I wasn't in yesterday !!!!!!! I probably wasn't as polite as you lol. I love the design you are stitching it's a pity Mr Frog had to pay a visit
ReplyDeletewow, what a hectic couple of days. I am sorry they turned off your internet but glad you got the supervisor to get you turned back on. Sorry that awful frog showed up on your doorstep, thankfully you sent him and his worts packing and now on to happier times! :o)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that you had to go though so much trouble just to upgrade your net access. I'm glad that it did get all sorted out in the end.
ReplyDeleteWhat a carry on to get your Internet upgraded. I'd have been fuming with out a doubt!
ReplyDeleteNew Snow is looking lovely even if the frog visited. Hope he's left you now. {{{HUGS}}}
Isn't it amazing how they can mess you sometimes? I'm glad that everything worked out in the end. Love the new piece that your stitching on, the fabric is yummy.
ReplyDeleteWe have Beowulf and Grendel at home, watching it tonight.
You know the old saying...when it rains it pours!!! Hope the "frog" goes away for you!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you got everything straightened up, you were a lot more patient than I would have been.
ReplyDeleteToo bad Mr frog had to visit cause your progress looks great.
Wow, talk about frustration. I'm glad they finally got it sorted out, and that you were able to get going on New Snow again. Hopefully the weekend will be peaceful with no more irritations or complications. :)

Lizzy, thanks so much for dropping by my blog, and I'm loving visiting yours. I LOVE the words you used to describe yourself---"sea calls to me," "keeps the shadows out"---poetic; a writer's dream---so NOW, yet so Medieval and fantastic (as in fantasy). L-O-V-I-N-G "New Snow" (haunting on that awesome fabric). I have a simple Prairie Schooler Santa I've frogged the same beginning 3 times. I know your pain. AND the Internet business---OMG, we're so crippled when there are probs, bless your heart! Glad things are coming together. Thanks for the nice visit. I'll be adding you to my blogroll.
ReplyDeleteI just love the fabric you are doing this piece on. It's looks just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBummer about the internet problems. Aggravating, isn't it? Especially when you have the day off and want to do things on the net!
