A Visit from the Stash Faery... and the Adventures of the 'Rose' Flame 'Hared' Lady...

I don't know where the last week and a half has gone... seems like it's just flown by and I couldn't tell you what I've done... Seems like there was something I had to do every day and I didn't have nearly as much time to sit back and stitch as I wanted to... And as much as I would like to find a way... *Time* stands still for no woman... ;-) I was back at work on Monday and Tuesday... today and tomorrow are my only days off this week... I have finished wee Jamie's Nurses piece... And I have started the one for his dgf, Paige. I am going to wait and show a piccy of the finishes when I post a blog entry about his graduation... probably in the next couple of days... { I don't know why I stated in my previous post he graduated on the 11th of May... it was the 12th... I guess I'm losing my mind along with everything else!} lol Anyway, he graduated on Saturday, 12th May and Paige's parents had a Barbecue at 4:00 that afternoon... We had a lot of fun and you know I took loads of piccys to share with you all... :-)

Now where to start? I have started this entry several times since last Thursday... yet for one reason or another I kept having to stop and save it as a draft and then when I thought I'd have time to post I had to rewrite and add only to save as draft yet again... So, here I am beginning my ramblings once again... I suppose my adventures at the Beauty Salon is as good a place as any to start... So, this past Friday, I got my hair coloured... my silver roots were all a'glow and I had been putting it off because, like the doc's office ... it usually takes all afternoon... So, I spent from 10:30 Friday morning until 4:00 that afternoon at the Beauty Salon... Talk about driving someone crazy! I was soooooo ready to get out of there! lol I am not one to sit idly and all the sitting and the gossip was starting to drive me bonkers... If you've ever seen the movie Steel Magnolias... then you sort of get the picture... I guess for someone who didn't feel like they had tons of things they needed to do, it would have been a brilliant day, however, my impatience was beginning to get the better of me and I was ready to run screaming, foil in my hair and all! lol Oh, and have you ever seen the film *Signs* with Mel Gibson? You know when they make the aluminum foil hats and sit around wearing them so the Aliens can't read their thoughts??? Well, I can't help but think of that whilst my hair is being foiled... you see the many dangerous paths my mind wanders when left idle too long... lol Anyway, there I sit hair foiled out about a foot all around my head... talk about scary! If Aliens passed by, never mind trying to read my thoughts... the sight alone would drive them back to their home planet! ;-) So, back to the story... my hair stylist always uses 4 or 5 different shades of red... so there we sit with five bowls or red hair dye and she is trying all new colours from a new colour company this time... and one of the ones she picked for me was Rose Flame... so there I sit, thinking of Aliens... and the darn bowl with the Rose Flame in it starts looking very pink! I mean sort of a dark Bubble Gum pink... and I'm beginning to panic... Anyway, I keep telling myself, I am not going to have pink hair... I'm not... it's just the colour in the bowl and you know it always looks different in the bowl... once on your hair and it's actually *set* it won't be pink at all... Well, when we're finally done and she's washed it and I'm sitting in front of the mirror all Mr Magoo like 'cause I don't have my glasses on and I can't see a blooming thing... she swears it's not pink... and once I put my specs on, it doesn't look pink to me either... And once she had dried it and styled it... I had her to do spiral curls with the curling iron... I thought it looked quite nice... So, despite five and a half hours of nightmarish thoughts of bubble gum pink hair and Aliens... when I left I was pleased with the colour. However, I had to run by a couple of shoppes afterwards, and when checking out at the grocery store, this little guy who knows my daughter and it seems like I always get in his line... well he said... "Did you just get your hair done?" And I replied... "Yes..." And then he said... "Well, it's pink!" ..... Oh, I know my mouth must have dropped.... I told him... "No, it's not pink... that's Rose Flame!" And then he said.... "Well, some of it is dark red but yes, it does have *Rose Pink* streaks in it... a lot of them!" Well, of course I just laughed and told him he must be colour blind! lol Anyway, my dear sons, swore it didn't look pink when I got home... However, I have had a few others tell me it does have *Rose Flame Pinkish* streaks in it... So we shall see what we shall see... If I get up enough courage, I'll show you a piccy when I post Jamie's Graduation entry and you all can tell me what you think of my Rose Flame hair! lol Though I still don't think it looks *pink* at all... maybe a wee bit burgundy... but surely not Pink! I do wonder, however if it had anything at all to do with those Ewe & Eye & Friends *Rose Hare* charts I ordered... ;-) Hmmmm.... Curiouser and Curiouser...

My dd Brandy and her dbf, Nick got back from their Cruise to The Caymans and Cozumel Saturday night... They had a lovely time... I'll share some Cruise piccys in a later post as well...

I finally had a wee bit of time to take piccys of my latest stash therapy last week... it all came week before last and I'm just itching to start something else... Alas, my *to stitch ASAP* stash keeps growing and growing... I'm beginning to think I'm going to need a couple more Dragons to guard my treasures... ;-)

On another note... my Doctor's office called me last Tuesday and wanted me to come in on Thursday because my doctor wanted to go over the test results with me from the week before... Needless to say, I worried about it for two days... the Nurse couldn't tell me a thing as my Doc had my chart in his office and she couldn't get to it. Anyway, seems like I have Lyme Disease and it's in the chronic stages and that's what caused my RA and Fibro and who knows what else... So, he put me on Antibiotics until I go back to him on the 4th of June and then the Rheumatologist on the 5th of June. I suppose I have had it for a few years and was not aware what was causing all the problems... He didn't tell me anything else about it at all... I suppose he's going to let the Rheumatologist deal with it... who knows... I am not going to worry about it... I'm going to spend the next couple of days stitching and resting...

Oh, and on a stitching note... I joined up for a Mail Art exchange a couple of weeks ago... and I am beginning to panic... I need Help!!! lol Barbara, I have read your wonderful tutorial over at the Focus on Finishing blog... and several other tutorials as well... and spent hours looking at loads of piccys of Mail Art on various blogs here and there... and I am still somewhat clueless about the finishing... I do think I have a general idea... I just don't know if I can sew it all together and not make a muck of it... I think that's my biggest worry... Ruining it! Sewing is not my strong point... I haven't really done much of it at all and just the thought scares me! I am more of a hands on *watch and learn* learning person rather than a follow the directions learning person... Well, I am going to try anyway and I'll be keeping everything crossed that it turns out as it should... It's due to mail out the first week in June... And I would be most appreciative of any tips or luck you all may have to share... ;-)

Well, I've rambled long enough... I'm away to catch up on some blogging and emails and stitching...

My heartfelt thanks to all of you for stopping by... as always your loving, thoughtful and inspiring wishes and comments are ever rays of sunshine dancing through the mist...

Until next time... Love in Stitches...

I am thankful for precious moments... precious love... my children, my friends and stitching time...

Lizzy, I love the stash you've purchased. I'll enjoying seeing pictures of everything and your mail art once you have them stitched. Let me know how the mail art goes. I've never done any before, but would really like to.

What wonderful stashing (I loved Briar Rabbit the second I first saw him/her too!).

You my dear can open a shop at the rate you are collecting that stash! :D I love everything you bought of course. Whenever you are done with charts let me know and we can trade, since I see we love the exact same things :D

I hope that the Lyme disease can be managed for you, I have a friend who has it as well. She has found some good treatments for it. I wish you all of the best in healing quickly.

And I want to see that pink…. I mean… RED hair, get a picture up and show us! :D

We need proof to determine if it's red or pink ;)

I think Lizzy you bought all the charts that are out there!! You must have made the LNS owner very happy! LOL!!

You'll do great with the MA! I'm a sewing disaster, believe me, so if I can do it, anyone can. Just take your time. I keep folding it into the envelope shape it will eventually have, to remind me of where to stitch and in what direction to stitch. Anne posted links to other MA finishing sites at the Focus on Finishing blog, too.

I hope your Lyme Disease issues can be dealt with - I've not heard anything good about that, and am now totally paranoid of ticks. Wishing you well!!

More lovely stash!! Im jealous ;) I definitely think you should show a picture of your new hair colour! I really hope the Lyme disease gets treated soon. Thinking of you {{HUGS}}

Hi Lizzy,

Enjoy your beautiful new stash! I love Briar Rabbit, and Pink Hare is very tempting. I hope the medicine the Dr. gave you does the trick and you are feeling in tip top shape very soon.

Take care,

Well dear lady of the Rose Flame Hair....LOL! That was a funny story and I smiled all the way through! LOL!

I hope that your lyme's disease can be managed....hopefully the doctor will have superior news to share :)

And I agree with Heather...you could open a small shop! I love to see what you buy though because you have impeccable taste!
Much love and hugs to you!

More lovely new stash ~ I'm in awe and I always love looking at your pics. Good luck with your mail art piece, I'm sure you'll do fine with it. New challenges are always a little bit worrying.

I hope your specialist has good info for the Lyme disease. At least they have been able to give you a name for your problems and to me, that's a big step forwards.

When are you starting the stitching on 'Briar Rabbit' Lizzy or don't I get to pick what you MUST STITCH FIRST from your wonderful new stash?(LOL) What an adorable pattern!!
So sorry to hear about you Lyme Disease. Hope they find good medication for you very soon so that you can deal with it in the best way possible.

What lovely stash! All those La-D-Da charts... I've been eying several of them recently myself.

It sounds like you had a wonderful time at graduation!

And as for pink hair... well, show us some piccies and we'll decide :)

I do hope your health problems get better, though.

Hi Lizzy, I'll bet your hair colour is beautiful -- I do love pink, in all shades :-)

I see, like me, you added Briar Rabbit to your stash and what a stash it is!

Here's wishing you more time to stitch all those wonderful charts :-)

Wow Lizzy, your blog is SOOOOOO interesting and wow do you ever have some wonderful stash!! I have lots of stash too but we always do love to get more, at least I sure do!! Thank you for your nice comments to my blog!! I am a bit pressured too cuz I have a round robin to start and need to get this model of the Christmas House in to my LNS. Oh well it will all work out! Just gotta get myself in gear more! Debby :)

Hi Lizzie :)

Thanks for cheering me up so much with such kind words and thoughts. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one - and I would love to take up your offer of emailing you, which I will do over the weekend! Bless you :)

Oh Lizzie, I read your post and convulsed into fits of laughter about your trip to the beauty salon! You have such an eloquent way with words lol! I have seen 'Steel Magnolias' and pictured the scene perfectly. You're not a writer by any chance are you? Well if you're not, you should be!

What wonderful stash! For some reason I can never find charts like that over here in the UK. I can find designs by 'Prairie Schooler' but I've never heard of 'La-D-Da' - they look fab!

I'm sorry to hear that you have Lyme Disease. It sounds terribly painful. I'm sending ooodles of lovely healing vibes your way. Loads of hugs and love to you xxxxxx

Wow .. I'm so jealous to see all those wonderful stashing. You must have a great time to pick and choose all the stash.

I've tagged you on my blog.

Hi Lizzy! You have been doing a lot of stashing lately! Love all your new charts, fabbys and threads. I've just got La D Da Love is Patient and trying to decide whether to use the Crescent COlours or not.

We needs pics of your hair so we can decide if it's red or pink :) I bet it looks fantastic.

I hope your Lyme's Disease can be managed well and you finally get some relieve {{{{{hugs}}}}}

Annemarie said...

You do leave us guessing, Lizzy. What colour pink are we talking about, here? Give us some DMC numbers, woman! Or at least a decent picture. Thanks for giving us a laugh, though.

And that stash... sigh.

Hope they can find somthing to relieve your health issues!

If you want to see more MA envelopes, go to http://membres.lycos.fr/brodenvelop/
This is a French site with so many stitched envelopes, you will not be doing anything but stare slack-jawed at your computer screen for hours to come!

Lizzy! The stash is wonderful. I love it all. I think a second dragon is a must. I'm sure your hair looks great - I've been very skeptical of mine at times after getting it colored and it always looks great after a few washes. Sounds like the clan had a good time and congrats for the grads. Sounds like you might be perking up a little bit - I hope so. Thinking of you!

Great stash!!

My you have been busy. Loved all the stash, I think my favorite was the PS patterns Just Hatched. My mom collects Chicken/Rooster themed items for her kitchen and den, and a couple of these would be fun to do as a set for her.

Hope your mail art goes well, and that with treating the Lyme Disease you start feeling better soon. I'm looking forward to seeing an update of some stitching when you get time (especially Easter Ave. that one is just too cute).

Wow, Lizzy-- your stashing is fantastic! And that's unreal about the Lyme disease... I had NO idea a person could have it and not know!

Karen said...

Wow! That's some stash aquisition! You're close to tempting me off the wagon!

I'm with you when it comes to the hair salon. I detest spending time there. I get my hair colored also, and every 6-8 weeks I have to sit there for at least 2 hours and honestly, its enough to drive me nuts. It feels like five eternities. I really dread it. If only I could find color at the drug store that (a) looked as good and (b) was as harmless as the color my salon uses, I'd kiss them goodbye forever and do it myself!

Hope the treatment for Lyme makes you feel better! {{{ Hugs }}}

Your hair sounds a great colour even if it has a pinky tint somewhere ;-) Hope they can sort your Lymes Disease!
Lastly but not least, that is an amazing stash treat you are going to really enjoy looking through these and getting some stitched soon. Last time I bought a big load was in January and February, since then I have been getting smaller amounts here and there.
Hope you have great week!

omgosh Lizzy! I soo enjoyed your tales of the beauty salon! You had me really laughing out loud! I've had my share of fun colors of hair, but not on purpose. One time the red turned purple on me .. actually it was really pretty once you got past the shock .. I'm sure the pink looks fine :)

Color me green with envy on your stash purchases! enjoy :)

Lizzy, your stash haul is just amazing!! I've had to put a stop to my stash collecting for financial reasons, but I have more than enough to keep me going for two (or more!) lifetimes, and not enough wall space to hang what I do have. Trouble is there are always more and more lovely new designs coming out which makes it soooooo difficult to resist.

Kajsa said...

Great stashing! Another friend of mine ended up with rose flame hair too. Must be a new trend.

Hope they can help you with your Lyme's disease.
